The all-new OMPHOBBY M2 V3 SPORT has just been announced, and with its release, we’re happy to bring you further expansions and improvements to the OFS3 flight control system! The new firmware 14.70 fundamentally improves the flight control algorithm for both main and tail rotors, substantially improving stability, stick response and stop behavior. It also adds SRXL2 support including telemetry return, extends CRSF and F.Port telemetry with battery%, improves servo endpoints handling, adjusts rescue duration based on user feedback, and is the first firmware to support OFS3+’s integrated ExpressLRS receiver with native power and binding commands.

Firmwares for the various helicopters will be handled as follows in this release: The previous “M2V3” firmware branch will be renamed “M2V3PRO”. A new firmware “M2V3SPORT” will be released with appropriate defaults matched to the new model.

All three firmwares M2MK2, M2V3PRO, M2V3SPORT will remain functionally identical in operation, and can be loaded onto both OFS3 and OFS3+ flight controllers. The only difference between these firmwares is appropriate default settings for each respective helicopter. No special care must be taken to distinguish between models with OFS3 and OFS3+.

Instructions and references for firmware 14.70 can be found in the newly released OFS3 User Guide Revision 3 on https://www.omphobby.com/User-Manual-n2050698.html. Please do not reference previous user guide revisions for this firmware.

Updates for both the iOS and Android apps are under review with Apple and Google. They are expected to be approved within the weekend of the release.

IMPORTANT NOTE - OFS3 FIRMWARE UPDATE

M2 EVO MK2 and M2 V3 PRO both use the same OFS3 flight control stack, but differ mechanically and aerodynamically. Therefore, OFS3 firmware releases now comprise two distinct firmware files for the two models, which are identical in functionality, but differ in their baked-in defaults.

⚠️ Ensure the firmware file name matches the model you are flashing the firmware to! Use firmware “M2V3” for an M2 V3 PRO! Use firmware “M2MK2” for an M2 EVO MK2! ⚠️

Failure to flash the correct firmware to your model will lead to sub-par flight performance when resetting parameters, and will set incorrect servo directions when formatting the flight controller. Exercise proper caution when selecting the firmware to flash. OMPHOBBY assumes no responsibility for the consequences of flashing incorrect firmware.

OFS3 M2 V3 PRO Firmware 12.08 Changelog

  • M2 V3 PRO firmware added with appropriate default values and servo directions
  • Fixed an issue that would cause a rare motor RPM drop event when using certain CRSF receivers
  • Swashplate initialization sequence now respects servo reverses
  • Improvements to parameter reset functionality
  • Prepared flight controller for upcoming new app functions
